Philadelphia celebrates New Year’s Day with something called the “Mummers Parade.”
The bulk of the parade takes place on Broad Street, which is close enough to our apartment as to basically be our back yard.
The noise got me curious, so I popped outside for a look-see.
I went out at around 11am, by which time the parade consisted of packs of people in loud dress, followed by an empty block or two, followed by another pack of people in loud dress.
It’s unclear if the parade was like this the whole time.
In fact, a lot of things are still unclear to me about this Philadelphia institution.
But I got cold and decided to go inside instead of the pondering the matter further.
In my book, New Year’s Day is set aside for sleeping in and snuggling. No pondering allowed.

Haha. You’re a trip! I agree it is for sleeping in….However, it’s a loooong tradition here. It’s nice to snuggle up on the couch and watch it on TV, I like your pictures, btw! Nice job!
I think I’ll stick to watching it on TV from now on, if only because I’m supremely lazy.
